
Malcolm Graham's 1977 Firebird
Kiwi Mal's story: The car was a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Esprit. The exterior is now Windsor Blue and the interior is blue velour. The car was acquired in 1992 and was originally painted silver blue. Between '93 and '94 the car was completely rebuilt. It was powered by a 350 SBC engine when purchased and during the restoration received a '76 400 engine and a TH-350 transmission.
Since then the engine was rebuilt with a new +030" bore and equipped with Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads, cam & intake; TRW forged pistons 1/16" rings, Eagle forged rods. Harland Sharp roller rockers 1.5:1 ratio Rhoads V Max superlube lifters. Transmission: Tremac TKO 3550 five speed. Rear end is open 10 bolt 3.08:1 Brakes: Baer GT Front and Touring rear, Hydroboost assist. Wheels: 18"x 10" rear & 18"x 9" front ROH 3 piece rims Tyres (tires) are Goodyear Eagle FI GSD3 ZR18 255/45 rear, 245/45 front. Suspension: Hotchkiss springs and swaybars, Koni shocks. Body parts were changed to emulate a Trans Am.
The exhaust is RARE 2 1/2" oversize exhaust Manifolds and RARE 2 1/2" mandrel bent X cross over pipes.
Future plans are to drive and enjoy it. It has taken 15 years to get it to this stage budgeting a bit each year and being able to drive it in between changes.
